PDC : Get your hands on the hands on - and good food

A PDC hint. If you are still here (or if you go to PDC or TechEd in the future) go and do some hands on labs. they are a really good way to learn, and you meet the most interesting people. I was doing the handwriting lab for Tablet PC and I mentioned to the Microsoft chap helping out how impressive it was. "That's good to hear" he said. "I'm one of the people who wrote it." Kewl. I also went and did the lab for the auxilliary display (a very interestintg device which will provide for tiny displays and controlers on a huge range of platforms). I ended up having a long chat with one of the guys who was building that as well. Taught sessions are all very well, but there is no substitute for getting your hands dirty. And you do meet some interesting people.

This is one of the labs after I'd tweaked it a bit. I thought it was quite artistic.

If you want a good place to eat great food on Hollywood boulevard I can strongly reccommend Kung Pao Kitty. We had a meal there last night and it was lovely. And the Asahi beer comes in huge bottles.

The menu is cool too.

Then we went back to the hotel for the last night. They have some really cool chairs in the lobby...

I can't leave LA without saying thanks to Andy Sithers, the Microsoft man who not only made the trip possible but also came along to make sure that we had a really good CPE (which I think is a Microsoft term for "good time"). We have had a great CPE and are going back buzzing with new ideas for things to do and stuff set up. Kudos Andy, and any time are in Hull you are more than welcome to go into any pub and buy yourself a drink....

CPE - literally Customer Partner Experience but idomatically, yes, "the customer has a good time." Glad you've had a good time and learned a lot. Now go home and teach it all to others. :-)
